Profile
Donna Kennedy BSc (Hons) PG Dip ARB Registered Architect
Donna’s architecture career started at the University of Strathclyde in 2002, where she completed her BSc (Hons) in Architectural Studies and PG Dip in Advanced architectural design, graduating in 2009. During this time period she completed her year out at East Ayrshire Council where she focused on design and planning of new build community buildings as well as maintenance of existing builds. She also worked part time throughout her later studies at ARPL in Ayr, where she completed her Part 3 qualification in 2012, under full time employment. 6 years at ARPL provided Donna with invaluable experience on so many projects including a number of conservation projects and private residential projects, both new builds and extensions. She moved on to work for Econstruct and Edesign in 2013 where she was employed as lead architect. The majority of her projects were residential, ranging from small scale extensions up to full site layout and house type design. This invaluable experience allowed her to branch out on her own establishing DKAD in 2019.
Donna has a client led approach to design; form should follow function and how a building works for a client is so critical in providing well thought out and simple but beautiful spaces; spaces which are enjoyable to be in. Whether designing a new building or improving an existing one, good connection and flow of spaces is vital to a successful design and this informs good quality architecture.
